To keep our camping trips easy to manage, we pack our gear by category—mostly using different colored duffle bags:

🎒 Color-Coded Duffle System

  • 🔴 Red Medium Duffle – Camp Kitchen All the cooking essentials, minus the cooler, stove, and food.
  • 🔵 Blue Large Duffle – Clothes Clothes, towels, and jackets. Each family member gets their own packing cube inside.
  • 🟤 Tan Large Laundry Bag – Sleeping Gear Sleeping bags, pads, pillows, blankets, and hammocks. This bag is large but not heavy.
  • 🟢 Green Small Duffle – Entertainment games, cards, binoculars, head lamps, tent light and a battery operated fan.
  • 🟡 Yellow Small Duffle – Tools & Essentials First aid kit, duct tape, tent mallet, tent broom and dustpan, tarps.

🧊 Additional Items

  • Cooler on wheels with the tent and Coleman stove bungee-corded on top for easy transport.
  • Dry food packed in Fresh Direct bags. They are easier to carry than paper bags and tend to stay in one piece.
  • Individual daypacks for each person with toiletries, a water bottle, hoodie, and a book. These stay in the car for quick access.
