When we’re car camping with four or five people, the Chrysler Pacifica is always our go-to. If the rental agency’s out of Pacificas, we end up in something smaller and travel like the Beverly Hillbillies—bags at our feet, gear stuffed into every corner, and the kids stuck with sleeping bags in their laps.
The Pacifica’s Stow ‘n Go® Seating System lets all the rear seats fold flat into the floor, giving us a huge open space for gear. When it’s just the four of us, we drop the whole third row and easily fit tents, sleeping bags, cooler, and all the random “etc.” we somehow always bring.
If my sister-in-law or nephew joins, we fold down two-thirds of the third row and still have plenty of room. The cooler fits perfectly into the well behind the last seat—like the Pacifica was built for our camping weekends.
Even fully loaded, five people ride comfortably. And once we hit the campground, it’s easy to grab gear from the back or both side doors.
We tried a Jeep Wagoneer once. It was bigger, had tons of cargo space, and seating for eight. With five of us, we could still fold the third row—and yeah, it had jet-plane acceleration.
But it was huge. Driving and parking it was way more stressful than the Pacifica.
Bottom line: for camping weekends, the Pacifica works for us.
